The story behind the song Amazing Grace
I never really gave it much thought, about the song, Amazing Grace other than it was a beautiful spiritual song. Recently I found out the true meaning behind that great song, and I have a totally different feeling when I hear it. I don't know if you ever heard the story behind the song, but at 59 years of age, I thought I knew a lot of things, at least I should have heard what this story was behind a song that I have always loved..but I hadn't. It seems there was a slave trader, who developed a conscience about what he was doing. One night he poured his heart out on a piece of paper, hence Amazing Grace came about. The author, John Newton. I will always see and feel the true meaning behind this song, from now on when I listen to it. It truly is Amazing! If you would like to read about John Newton, you can go to the link below. |
